European human rights network urges EU institutions to continue to work towards strong legal aid dir

The JUSTICIA European Rights Network has urged the EU institutions to continue to work towards a comprehensive Legal Aid Directive. They issued a statement which was addressed to the European Parliament, the Commission and the Council, JUSTICIA, underlining outstanding issues and concerns around the EU Directive. The institutions are now entering the final stages of the trilogue negotiations on the Directive.

BiE members Mark Kelly and Zaza Namoradze are leading efforts within JUSTICIA for a strong EU Directive on Legal Aid. Their work has informed the trilogues through previous statements and a series of fact-sheets on legal aid in EU countries.

BiE's Dr Dimitrios Giannoulopoulos was the author of the fact-sheet on legal aid in Greece.
